Agriculture in Burke County

Agriculture

Burke County is one of Georgia's most important farming counties, with nearly half of its acreage in farmland and timber production and harvesting more than 60,000 acres of crops each year. A bird's eye view of the landscape reveals pine and hardwood forests and a patchwork quilt of cotton, corn, soybeans, peanuts and pastureland.

The diversified mix of food and fiber crops also includes one of the state's leading organic blueberry operations and a strawberry farm that offers a popular roadside stand and U-pick experience. For more information, contact the Burke County Extension Service at 706.554.2119.
