Burke Medical Center
Burke Medical Center (BMC) has been a driving force for local medical care since 1951. Today, BMC is a modern, acute care hospital offering comprehensive services that range from surgery to emergency. The medical center is one of the county’s largest employers with more than 150 full-time, part-time and PRN employees.
The 40-bed facility in downtown Waynesboro also offers a spectrum of specialty care including physical, occupational, speech, respiratory, and wound therapies, along with radiology, laboratory services, gastroenterology, orthopedics, cardiology and general surgery.
Burke Medical Rural Health Clinic, also in Waynesboro, seeks to meet the preventive health needs of the county’s residents. The physicians, physician’s assistants, and nurse practitioners at this facility operate a general family practice, pediatric services and a weekend clinic.

Burke County Emergency Management Agency has 12 stations across the county that serve the area’s residents. Each station has cross-trained employees.
